Farm Philly works with USDA to promote equality in urban agriculture at northeast regional meeting

The City hosted the (USDA) Regional Equity Convening: Northeast on July 18, 2024. It was held at Sankofa Community Farm at Bartram's Garden. The conference emphasized the importance of inclusivity and equity in urban agriculture.

Officials from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and community members discussed:

• The role of food access in connecting communities with the land.
• Food and nutrition security.
• Urban agriculture education.
• Youth-centered leadership in agriculture.

Attendees talked about ways to:

• Advocate for policies that promote equity in urban agriculture.
• Work with government officials to meet urban farmers' needs.
• Provide farmers with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive.

The event fostered connections between organizations across the northeast area.

These new connections enabled Farm Philly to:
