Hispanic Heritage Month Employee Spotlight: Chris Rivera

AdvanSix celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month by honoring the rich diversity of our team. Our Hispanic and Latino colleagues bring invaluable perspectives that strengthen our company. As part of our celebration, we're excited to feature Chris Rivera, Manufacturing Leader, at our Chesterfield site.

What does it mean to you to be Hispanic? 
First off, I do not speak Spanish but love my family's culture. My roots come from my father's side, and he comes from the small town of Caguas, Puerto Rico.

How do you celebrate your culture? 
I celebrate my culture by listening and dancing to Hispanic music as well as enjoying Hispanic food that my father and his side of the family cook.

Why is Hispanic Heritage Month so important?  
It celebrates the contributions, history and culture of Hispanic communities in the United States. It highlights the diverse traditions and achievements of people with Hispanic roots, showing pride and awareness.

What about your culture are you most proud of? 
I am most proud of this Hispanic pride and the way Hispanic individuals have shaped and enriched society.

Tell us about a Hispanic person who has made a deep impact on your life. 
That would be my father. He did not have the easiest of upbringings but has persevered through being an orphan, moving to NYC and making it through the Vietnam War. He has had many hardships in his life but keeps a happy-go-lucky attitude, and to me that is what the Hispanic Culture is all about.
