Camden County Update on Recovery Efforts and Return to Normal Operations

As Camden County and the State of Georgia remain under a State of Emergency, we continue to face challenges as a community. The well-being of our residents remains our top priority as we work through the recovery process.

Government, Schools, and Courts Reopening: All Camden County government offices and courts will reopen for normal operations on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. All schools, except for St. Marys Elementary School, will reopen Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Due to an extended power outage at St. Marys Elementary School, it will not reopen until tentatively Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

Damage Reporting: We encourage residents to self-report property damage using the Camden County Damage Assessment Portal. Your reports help us coordinate resources and recovery efforts more effectively.

Debris Removal: Starting Tuesday, October 1, 2024, residents in unincorporated Camden, Kingsland, and St. Marys may place vegetative yard debris on the right-of-way for collection. This includes yard debris of whole trees, tree stumps, tree branches, tree trunks, and other leafy material. All other types of debris (appliances, construction material, electronics, etc.) will be picked up through normal waste collections, separated and categorized. If debris is not separated, it will not be removed. Please note, debris right-of-way removal does not apply to private communities. Businesses are reminded to dispose of debris directly at the Camden County Landfill.

We extend our gratitude to the cities, county, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Camden County Schools, National Parks Service, EMA, public safety, public works, and all our partners for their unity and collaborative efforts. Your support, along with the patience of our citizens, has been vital. As we continue to navigate remaining challenges while returning to normal operations, we will work to keep citizens informed and updated.
