Texas Restaurant Association Shares Emergency Preparedness Resources Ahead of Tropical Storm Francine

GALVESTON, TEXAS (September 9, 2024; 6:30 pm central) - The Texas Restaurant Association, working closely with our members in the Galveston Chapter of the TRA and the Greater Houston Chapter of the TRA, is monitoring Tropical Storm Francine closely and stands ready to help the foodservice community with preparedness, response, and recovery.

While Tropical Storm Francine is currently projected to make landfall as a hurricane in Louisiana, the Texas Gulf Coast and greater Houston regions are bracing for potential impacts including flooding, storm surge, strong winds, and utility outages throughout the week. To help restaurants and their team members prepare for the storm, the TRA has compiled the following resources and best practices:

Before the Storm: Preparation

During the Storm: Safety & Updates

"I know I can speak for our members and the TRA when I say the safety of every foodservice employee and customer is our first priority, especially when we know a storm is building in the gulf," said Emily Williams Knight, Ed.D., president and CEO of the Texas Restaurant Association. "By sharing these resources before a storm hits, we hope to help every operator prepare so we can safeguard our loved ones and community, as well as the small businesses that make our communities so special."

Any foodservice business with questions regarding Tropical Storm Francine is encouraged to reach out to the TRA by emailing [email protected].
