"It was an honor to interact with these incredible women and to work with Dr. Seraphin again. The Women in Defense conference provided an opportunity for the Alda Center to link our unique communication training approach to the needs of women leaders," said Lindenfeld. "I experienced such powerful, smart, and engaged women leaders and feel privileged that I had the opportunity to work with them."

WID's goal, since 1981, has been to provide professional development and networking opportunities to women working in support of U.S. national security. The 2024 WID conference brought together more than 500 women from across the nation to network and learn from government and industry experts. WID's National Conference seeks to strengthen the defense industrial base by educating, empowering, and supporting a diverse and inclusive workforce.

SBU's Office of Federal Relations supported Lindenfeld during the WID conference and works closely with Department of Defense leadership and staff to advance Stony Brook University's cutting-edge defense research.
