'Taking the Pentagon to the People' event to provide info on opportunities with U.S. Department of Defense

Date August 23, 2024
Southern University and A&M College, in partnership with the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness, will host "Taking the Pentagon to the People" (TTPTTP) on Sept. 10-11.
More than 20 U.S. Department of Defense agencies will be on the Baton Rouge campus to engage with students, faculty, and staff. Attendees will have access to job offers, internships, faculty research fellowships, personnel exchanges, and small business opportunities.
TTPTTP is the DoD's flagship minority outreach initiative, designed to advance equity, opportunity, and access. It aims to strengthen minority institutions by positioning them as essential resources for the Department of Defense. The initiative strategically focuses on underrepresented and underserved institutions, along with historically marginalized students and communities, addressing the challenges they face in accessing DoD employment, fellowships, scholarships, grants, contracts, and research opportunities.
Southern University, along with other highly competitive institutions, is engaged by the DoD because of its success in graduating students with mission-critical degrees in science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics, business, education, languages, logistics, social sciences, and other key fields. The program will also offer faculty members valuable insights into research fellowships, sabbaticals, personnel exchanges, and small business opportunities. Faculty and staff will have the chance to network directly with DoD representatives to understand better how the agency can support their recruitment, teaching, and research endeavors.
DoD speakers will highlight current and upcoming personnel initiatives in various fields, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, language, business, and education.
This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
