WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Chairman Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) announced a hearing for Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM ET, to examine how the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's (CISA) "Secure-By-Design" initiative has influenced the cybersecurity posture of businesses that have adopted its principles.
"From educating consumers on multifactor authentication to calling for increased risk visibility, CISA's 'Secure-By-Design' initiative has served as a positive step for raising baseline cybersecurity--something urgently needed as companies and critical infrastructure face mounting cyber threats," Chairman Garbarino said. "As part of this initiative, CISA's 'Secure-By-Design' pledge signed in May has fostered vital collaboration between the government and private industry. However, we know investing in cybersecurity often presents challenges for private industry. As we examine the costs, challenges, and strategies associated with fulfilling the pledge's objectives, it's important to hear directly from industry leaders about the efficacy of these standards and the future of the broader initiative."
