Barnes & Thornburg Receives Inaugural Visionary Partnership Award From Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program

Barnes & Thornburg has received the Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program's (DAPP) inaugural Visionary Partnership Award for its commitment to advancing women of color in legal roles.

The award recognizes how, for 10 years, Barnes & Thornburg and DAPP have worked together to increase diversity in the legal profession by providing summer job opportunities for underrepresented and deserving women law students. It was presented to Barnes & Thornburg at DAPP's 10th Anniversary Reception and Fundraiser on Aug. 14 in Chicago and accepted by Cony Rosas, an attorney at the firm.

"It is an honor for Barnes & Thornburg to receive the inaugural Visionary Partnership Award from DAPP," said Dawn R. Rosemond, firm diversity partner. "This recognition is a testament to the firm's unwavering commitment to fostering diversity in the legal profession. Because of our involvement with DAPP, we have helped open doors and create meaningful opportunities for underrepresented women law students. We are proud of the progress we've made together and look forward to continuing this vital work."

Among other programs, Barnes & Thornburg has a successful Prelaw Scholars Program that covers the cost of taking the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and the LSAT prep course. Upon completing the LSAT, the Prelaw Scholars Program pays for a credential assembly service to help students gather, organize, and present application materials and provides attorney mentors.

DAPP is a nonprofit corporation that addresses the continued and systematic decline of women of color lawyers in law firms and across other coveted positions in the legal profession. DAPP aims to diversify the legal profession by expanding opportunities for women of color law students to secure summer positions at law firms and corporations following their first year of law school.

With more than 800 attorneys and other legal professionals, Barnes & Thornburg is one of the largest law firms in the country. The firm serves clients worldwide from offices in Atlanta, Boston, California, Chicago, Delaware, Indiana, Michigan, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, South Florida, Texas and Washington, D.C.
