Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 9551 North Wayside Drive

August 29, 2024- Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 9551 North Wayside Drive about 9:10 p.m. on Wednesday (August 28).

The identity of the victim, 19, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Ponder and J. Meister reported:

HPD patrol officers were flagged down regarding a shooting at a park at the above address and found an unresponsive man on the ground. He had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

A witness told officers she was walking through the park with the victim when they were confronted by an unknown male suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim, put a gun to him and said something to him. The suspect then shot the victim and fled on foot, northbound toward Hamlet Street. The witness was uninjured.

The suspect was described only as a black male wearing a black hoodie, gray pants and a ski mask.
