The
Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) has filed an amicus brief to support the continuation of the Schools and Libraries Universal Service Support program, or E-Rate, which helps provide affordable telecommunications services for schools and libraries. In its brief, SIIA stresses the E-Rate program's critical role in bridging the digital divide, especially for rural and economically disadvantaged areas, by enabling widespread access to essential digital tools and learning resources. SIIA argues that the E-Rate program's success demonstrates its indispensable value to schools and libraries, and warns that invalidating the current structure of the program would harm millions of students, educators, and library patrons across the nation who rely on its support.
