Health department alerts public about recall of Diamond Shruumz products

Recalled products may be associated with severe illness

The Texas Department of State Health Services is alerting the public about the recall of Diamond Shruumz brand products after reports of severe illness in people who consumed them. Two people in Texas have reported illness after consuming the products, and one has been hospitalized. Nationwide, 69 cases and 36 hospitalizations have been reported by 28 states as part of this outbreak.

The Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention and the FDA are investigating an outbreak of illnesses potentially connected to Diamond Shruumz brand chocolate bars, cones and gummies. These products have been marketed as containing a proprietary blend of mushrooms and may also contain undisclosed ingredients that might be linked to severe illness. Other adverse effects reported include hallucinations, uncontrolled movements, fast or slow heart rate, high or low blood pressure, flushed skin, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, confusion, and sleepiness.

These products may appeal to children and teenagers. Parents and caregivers should discuss the information about the recalled products with their children and take extra care to ensure these products are not consumed by younger people.
