E-Read Texas Moving to Boundless Mobile App This Fall

Austin, TX - The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is pleased to announce that the E-Read Texas program will be moving to the Boundless app from Baker & Taylor later this year. TSLAC has been working with Baker & Taylor since 2022 to purchase e-books and audiobooks for the collection, and the agency looks forward to expanding the partnership. Transition from the current app, SimplyE, to Boundless is expected to be complete by October 2024.

Boundless will offer participating libraries exciting new features for patrons, such as age-based user profiles and easy-to-use features like notetaking, wish lists and font controls. Participating libraries will also have more tools to increase patron engagement, such as integrating library programming into the app and creating custom collections to suit their patrons' interests.

The E-Read Texas program started in 2019 and provides e-books and downloadable audiobooks to small-to-medium sized public libraries across the state. The collection includes more than 20,000 e-book and audiobook titles, mostly comprised of adult fiction and popular non-fiction. Eligible Texas public libraries not already participating in the program can join later this year, once the transition to Boundless is complete. Libraries are encouraged to visit the E-Read Texas website to see if they are eligible and learn more: www.tsl.texas.gov/ldn/ebooks.
