Palmdale Cooling Centers Open Through October 3 for Excessive Heat

PALMDALE, CA - The City of Palmdale is opening designated cooling centers to provide relief for residents in response to an excessive heat warning. Temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees during this period.

  • Palmdale City Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will be open to people of all ages Tuesday to Thursday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Victory Outreach Community Resource Center, located at 37419 25th St. East, will be open Tuesday through Thursday, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Transportation assistance to Victory Outreach is available by calling 661/733-3823.
  • Legacy Commons for Active Seniors, located at 930 E. Ave. Q-9, will be open for those 55 and older through Thursday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The City urges residents to take precautions during this extreme heat event. It is important to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces, avoid sun exposure and check on vulnerable relatives and neighbors. Residents are reminded to never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in minutes during hot weather.
