New York State Society of CPAs Elects 2024-2025 Board of Directors

NEW YORK - (July 10, 2024) - The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) is pleased to announce their new Board of Directors-a 39-member governing body-which includes the positions of president, president-elect, vice presidents, secretary/treasurer, directors-at-large and directors as chapter representatives, who all began their terms of office on June 1, 2024.

The Society's elected officers are the following:

Kevin P. O'Leary, President: O'Leary is the managing partner at MMB + CO, in Albany, N.Y. He graduated from Hartwick College with a B.S. in accounting. He has served a past president, president-elect, vice president, secretary and treasurer for the NYSSCPA's Northeast Chapter, while also serving as a past director as chapter representative on the Society's Board. O'Leary joined the Society in 2000.

Kevin Matz, President-elect: Matz is a senior partner at ArentFox Schiff LLP, in New York, N.Y. He graduated with a B.S. from CUNY's Herbert H. Lehman College, and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and LL.M. from New York University School of Law. Matz is a frequent author and lecturer on estate and tax planning topics, and is co-author of the estate planning treatises, Manning on Estate Planning and Estate Planning for Professionals: Understanding What Is Needed for Estates of Any Size. He joined the Society in 1993.

William H. Dresnack, Secretary/Treasurer: Dresnack is the Chair of the Department of Finance and Accounting at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. He graduated with an A.S. in accounting from Nassau Community College, a B.S. in management from C.W. Post College at Long Island University, an M.S. in accounting from Binghamton University, and a J.D. from the University of Buffalo. Dresnack has been a member of the Society since 1987.

Vice Presidents, to hold office for one year:

  • Katelyn N. Kogan, Vice President: Kogan is the senior manager for real estate services at Mazars in New York, N.Y. She earned her B.S. in accounting from Hunter College and her M.S. in real estate from Baruch College. Kogan was awarded office champion for her firm's Women@Mazars program and was a leader within the Audit & Accounting Council. She served in numerous roles on the Society's Board of Directors, which include director-at-large. Kogan joined the Society in 2009.
  • A'Isha Torrence, Vice President: Torrence is the chief financial officer at ADAPT Community Network in New York, N.Y. A graduate of Queens College, Torrence has
  • always been considered by her peers to be a strong business development professional. She previously served as president of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter and in numerous roles on the Society's Board of Directors, including director as chapter representative. She joined the Society in 2014.
  • Shmueli Milecki, Vice President: Milecki is the chief financial officer at Bookkeeping Corp in Brooklyn, N.Y. He works with small businesses to provide bookkeeping and CFO services, with the goal of creating an accounting system that will help them grow their businesses. Milecki served as president of the Queens/Brooklyn Chapter and was a past director-at-large on the Board of Directors. He joined the Society in 2016.
  • John M. Spatola, Vice President: Spatola is the partner in charge of emerging business, business valuation, forensic accounting and dispute resolution services at Nawrocki Smith LLP in Hauppauge, N.Y. He is also a forensic and investigative adjunct professor at St. Joseph's College. Spatola earned his B.A. in business administration from Stony Brook University (SUNY). He joined the Society in 2010.
  • William D. Ryan III, Vice President: Ryan is a CPA at Fitzgerald, DePietro & Wojnas CPAs, P.C. in Utica, N.Y. He has served in several leadership positions in the NYSSCPA's Utica Chapter, including as president, president-elect and treasurer. He also served as a past director as chapter representative on the Society's Board of Directors. Ryan joined the Society in 2014.

Directors-at-Large, to hold office for one to four years:

  • Philip J. London: London is the tax partner emeritus at Wiss & Company, LLP. He earned his B.A. in sociology and accounting from Long Island University-Post and his M.B.A. in accounting and tax from St. John's University. London is a current member of the Legislative and Strategic Plan Update task forces. He also serves as a member of the C Corporations; New York, Multistate and Local Taxation; and Relations with the Internal Revenue Service committees. He joined the Society in 2002.
  • Anthony S. Chan: Chan is the president and co-founder of CA Global Consulting Inc., in Flushing, N.Y. He earned his B.A. in accounting and economics from CUNY's Queens College and an M.B.A. in finance and investments from CUNY's Baruch College. Chan previously has served on the Board of Directors as a vice president and as a director-at-large. He is currently serving on the Chief Financial Officers (CFO), Internal Audit and SEC committees. Chan joined the Society in 1989.
  • David G. Young: Young is a partner at Young & Company CPAs, LLP, in Rochester, N.Y. He is a regular accounting correspondent on WROC, an ABC affiliate station. Young is a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served for over 27 years. As a decorated combat veteran, Young served two deployments and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He joined the Society in 1998.
  • Andrew M. Mintzer: Mintzer is a principal in the Forensic and Financial Consulting Services Group at Hemming Morse LLC in Los Angeles, Calif. He earned his B.A. and M.A. in accounting from the University of South Florida. Mintzer is the former president of the California Society of CPAs. He joined the Society in 2016.
  • Koren Chen: Chen is a director at FORVIS, LLP, in New York, N.Y. She holds an accounting degree from Binghamton University (SUNY) and a human resources management degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China. Chen's work specializes in nonprofit, healthcare and human services organizations that focus on serving the disabled population, children in special educations, and foster care. She joined the Society in 2017.
  • Nadia-Maria Matthie: Matthie is a partner at WithumSmith+Brown, PC in New York, N.Y. She earned her B.S. in accounting from Iona University from New Rochelle, N.Y. Matthie serves as the President of the Moynihan Scholarship Fund Fundraising Committee and previously served as the Chair for the COAP Pace Advisory Board. She joined the Society in 2015.

Directors as Chapter Representatives (representing one of the Society's 14 Chapters), to hold office for one or four years:

  • Elysa Dauerman - Manhattan/Bronx Chapter: Dauerman is a quality analyst advisor, project manager, and BCRC internal audit lead specialist. She earned her B.S. in accounting from Skidmore College and her M.S. in taxation from Fordham University Business School. Dauerman has served as a vice president, secretary and treasurer of the Manhattan/Bronx Chapter of the Society. She joined the Society in 1994.
  • Jamie L. Atkinson - Southern Tier Chapter: Atkinson is a director at Davidson Fox & Company LLP in Binghamton, N.Y. She received her B.S. in accounting from Keystone College. Atkinson volunteers by serving as treasurer for ACCORD, A Center for Dispute Resolution Children. She has also served as a Southern Tier Chapter president. She joined the Society in 2012.
  • Andrea M. Pagano - Syracuse Chapter: Pagano is an accounting instructor and professor at the State University of New York at Oswego. She received her B.S. and M.B.A. in accounting from SUNY Oswego. Prior to teaching, Pagano was an auditor for KPMG, LLP. She joined the Society in 2014
  • Ronald F. Ries - Westchester Chapter: Ries is a business adviser and consultant in White Plains, N.Y. He earned his B.B.A. in accounting and business management from the City College of New York. Ries joined the Society in 1971.
  • Kelly Mandell-Klumpp - Buffalo Chapter: Mandell-Klumpp is the senior analyst at Brisbane Consulting Group, LLC (a wholly owned subsidiary of Lumsden & McCormick, LLP) in Buffalo, N.Y. She earned her bachelor's degree in accounting and economic crime investigation from Hilbert College, and her M.S. in forensic accounting from Canisius College. Mandell-Klumpp joined the Society in 2017.
