'Sea Ranch' Ushered in the Kelp Harvest Season

Recently, in Xihugang, Xiangshan County, it is common to see fishermen driving rafts to harvest kelp.

In the breeding area, floating rafts connected by floating balls outline neat "ridges", and rows of kelp loom under the water. Fishermen skillfully cut the fat kelp and return with a full load.

The sea area around West Shanghai and Hong Kong has small wind and waves, and the seawater has sufficient nutrients, which is an excellent "sea ranch" suitable for the growth of kelp. At present, the kelp culture area in Huangshuao Township, Xiangshan County is about 3,500 mu, and this year's kelp output is expected to exceed 2,000 tons.
