The City of Tampa is proud to unveil its first Eco-Counter display at the corner of North Boulevard and West Cass Street. What is an Eco-Counter? It's a high-visibility, digital unit that uses camera sensors to count passing pedestrians and bicyclists in real-time, making them an even more visible part of our growing urban environment. The Eco-Counter displays the daily totals as well as annual figures.

The Eco-Counter is a unique device that promotes a healthy-lifestyle and serves as a useful tool. By tracking the Eco-Counter data, we can monitor usage patterns and trends in this area along the Green Spine. The rising counts are intended to motivate others to swap their cars for bikes and add to the data.

Currently, there are more than 130 miles of bike facilities available to our citizens and visitors, with many more on the way thanks to projects like the upcoming West Riverwalk and Green Spine extensions. Both of these major projects will connect more than a dozen neighborhoods with safer streets, sidewalks, and protected bicycle lanes. Several of our recent and upcoming Quick Build projects also incorporate new bicycle paths. Bike lanes have been a strategic focus of the administration's M.O.V.E.S. Plan which prioritizes safe and equitable transportation options delivering a healthier, safer, and more connected city.
