Notice of Public comment Period on draft Local Solid Waste Management Plan [LSWMP]

Washington County is Inviting Public Comment on its Local Solid Waste Management Plan.

The Washington County New York Local Solid Waste Management Plan (LSWMP) 2020 - 2029 has been prepared in accordance with NYS DEC CRR-NY IV B Parts 360-366 and 369. The LSWMP is a guidance document that examines countywide local solid waste management and explores potential strategies for solid waste reduction in the County. Washington County has developed this plan taking into consideration that County legal control of waste collection ended in 2018 when its five municipal transfer stations sold to a private solid waste management company. Waste management has remained privatized since. The aim of this plan is to empower and inspire our local communities and each citizen with knowledge and tools to achieve waste reduction and to discover economic opportunities in the reuse economy sector.
