The Roy C. Marcum Animal Care Faire was established in 2022 to honor fallen Sacramento County animal control officer Roy C. Marcum, who was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 28, 2012. The event commemorates Officer Marcum's legacy while promoting responsible pet ownership and animal welfare in the community.
