Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan had a meeting with the delegation of the Council of Europe Department for the Execution of Judgments of the ECHR

On September 4, Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan had a meeting with the delegation of the Council of Europe Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) led by Claire Ovey, the Director of Human Rights.

During the meeting the interlocutors discussed Armenia's execution of ECHR judgments, as well as the steps taken in that direction.

Deputy Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan commended the cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe, highlighting the ECHR's special role in strengthening human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Armenia. He emphasized the importance of the execution of ECHR judgments, particularly regarding the protection of individual rights, institutional reforms and capacity-building initiatives implemented by the competent structures of Armenia with the support and expertise of the Council of Europe within the CoE Action Plan for Armenia.

Both parties acknowledged Armenia's positive records of the execution of ECHR judgments and reaffirmed their commitment to maintain close collaboration towards enhancing the efficiency of execution of ECHR judgments.

The discussions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued between the Council of Europe's delegation and the Office of the Representative of the Republic of Armenia on International Legal Matters as well as officials from relevant state institutions and agencies.
