Former State Senator Dan Quick Officially Elected to State Legislature

Today, Hall County Election Officials completed their counting of ballots cast in the 2024 General Election. Dan Quick has officially been elected to serve as the State Senator for District 35.

Senator-elect Quick has released the following statement:

"The results are in, and I am honored to be elected by the voters of Grand Island as our State Senator once again. I want to thank everyone for their support for this campaign over the last couple of years. I am extremely proud of the hard work of our team, volunteers, and supporters. I want to give a special thank you to my wife, Alice, who has been by my side working hard throughout the campaign. Her support and sacrifices made throughout the campaign contributed to my success and have meant the world to me.

Thank you to Senator Aguilar for his service to the people of District 35. I wish him the best going forward. I want to thank all voters for participating in this election. I vow to be a Senator who fights for all members of our community, no matter who they voted for."

About Dan
Quick and his wife, Alice, a registered nurse, have lived in Grand Island since April of 1980. Together, they have three children and nine grandchildren. Prior to his service in the legislature, Quick worked at the City of Grand Island's Power Plant for 28 years, where he started as a material handler and later a maintenance mechanic and welder.

Quick also served as President and Business Manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1597 and as President of the Nebraska State Utility Workers Conference.

Quick was first elected to the Legislature in 2016. While in office, he served on the Banking, Commerce, and Insurance, General Affairs, Natural Resources, and Urban Affairs committees. Quick also was appointed by the Legislature to serve on the committee that addressed concerns about conditions of assisted living facilities for residents who suffer from mental health issues. He was also appointed to serve on the Economic Development Task Force and the Juvenile Interstate Compact. Quick was elected to serve on the Central Community College Board of Governors in 2022. He is also currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Heartland United Way and Nebraska Alliance for Child Advocacy Centers.
