METRO extends partnership with the Gourmet Festival

20 August 2024

The culinary festival on Düsseldorf's Königsallee starts again next weekend with over 200 exhibitors

The Gourmet Festival in Düsseldorf is a feast for all senses - more than 200 restaurateurs, manufacturers, distilleries, winegrowers and street food vendors will once again showcase their passion for culinary delights and hospitality around Königsallee from 23-25 August 2024, making the event the largest open-air food festival in Europe. What's more, the line-up is particularly international this year, with food and drinks from 24 countries - and many Düsseldorf restaurateurs will also be present again. METRO is already the main sponsor of the festival for the third year in a row and has now announced, together with the organiser Wellfairs, that it will extend the successful partnership for another three years.

"The Gourmet Festival is a wonderful event for the city, for all visitors and offers a perfect stage for restaurateurs. Diversity, hospitality and culinary highlights come together here in an ideal way. We are delighted to continue our partnership to further strengthen Düsseldorf as a gastronomic hotspot and to promote the city's appeal both nationally and internationally," says Dr Steffen Greubel, CEO of METRO AG.

Hendrik Schellkes, Managing Director of Wellfairs, also welcomes the extension: "Having a partner like METRO at our side is a great benefit. METRO supports us in many ways. But the most important thing is the extensive support for our exhibitors." For example, the METRO store in Düsseldorf will continue to support exhibitors during the festival weekend with a fast and convenient delivery service for last-minute orders as well as the popular ice service to ensure that food and drinks are always perfectly chilled. "It's great and a great pleasure to be a partner of the festival, working so closely with the exhibitors and helping to make their passion for hospitality tangible for visitors," adds Michael Widmer, Managing Director of METRO Düsseldorf.
