Opera recital “All’alba vincerò” with the Festival Pucciniano Foundation organised in Ottawa

On 8 October, the opera recital "All'alba vincerò. A musical journey through Puccini's masterpieces" was held at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre in Ottawa. The concert was organised by the Embassy of Italy in Canada in collaboration with the Festival Pucciniano Foundation, which every year stages in Torre del Lago the only festival in the world dedicated to the works of Giacomo Puccini. The performance was an opportunity to celebrate the centenary of the death of the renowned Italian composer and the entry of Italian opera singing in the UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity list.

In her opening speech, Dr. Scano, Head of the Embassy's Cultural Affairs, Press and Communication Office, highlighted how opera is of fundamental importance to Italy's cultural heritage and spoke of Maestro Puccini's outstanding artistic legacy. Dr. Scano then emphasised how music, a universal language, possesses the extraordinary ability to unite people, overcoming all barriers and diversity.

Talented artists - soprano Claudia Pavone, tenor Valerio Borgioni, and pianist Chiara Mariani - performed the most famous arias from Giacomo Puccini's operas, from La Boheme to Madama Butterfly, Tosca, and Turandot, receiving warm applause from those present, an audience of some 600 people including representatives of Canada's cultural, academic, scientific and commercial institutions, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the Italian community in Ottawa and enthusiasts of Italian music and culture.
