Youth Violence Strike Force Recovers Firearm and Arrests Suspect in Roxbury

At about 7:50 PM, on Thursday, July 25th, 2024, Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest of Ricardo Watson, 21, of Roxbury, following a suspect stop near 83 Humboldt Ave, Roxbury.

Officers were on random patrol around Humboldt Ave. and Townsend St. when their attention was drawn to a male party, they believed was displaying characteristics of an armed person. While watching the male party, later identified as Ricardo Watson, Officers observed Watson cross the street and continue to display multiple characteristics of a person carrying a firearm.

Officers stopped Watson and began an investigation which led to the recovery of a firearm located on Watson near his waist.

The firearm recovered was a Smith and Wesson SD40, which had a large capacity feeding device (magazine) inserted into it. The magazine had thirteen (13) rounds of live ammunition, and the firearm had one (1) live ammunition round in the chamber.

Ricardo Watson was arrested and is expected to be arraigned at Roxbury District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
