Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives charge second man over 2023 Chester Hill home invasion

Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged a second man for his alleged role in a Chester Hill home invasion last year.

About 4.40pm on Thursday 28 September 2023, emergency services were called to Esme Avenue, Chester Hill, following reports of shots fired.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command arrived and were told five men had allegedly forced entry into the home before discharging a firearm and threatened the occupants with several weapons, including a baseball bat.

A 48-year-old man suffered a leg wound from the firearm, while a 46-year-old woman was allegedly hit with the bat.

The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for minor injuries, however he did not require hospital treatment.

The woman also did not require further treatment.

A number of children were home at the time of the incident but were not injured.

A crime scene was established, and detectives attached to State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad commenced an investigation into the incident under Strike Force Kairawa.

As part of investigations, strike force detectives have charged a 23-year-old man in April 2024 for his alleged role in the home invasion, and he remains before the courts.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 22-year-old man at Parramatta Police Station on Sunday 29 September 2024.

The man was charged with aggravated enter dwelling with intent knowing people there, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, assault occasion actual bodily harm in company of others and intentionally choke person without consent.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court the same day where he was granted conditional bail to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Tuesday 12 November 2024.

Investigations under Strike Force Kairawa continue.
