Pedestrian Motor Vehicle Collision – Investigation: C24-184845

Released: August 10, 2024 at 1:49 p.m.

On August 9, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of an injured person at Smithfield Avenue and Main Street. A male was located and found to have serious injuries.

Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attended and transported a 57-year-old male to the hospital in critical condition.

The adult driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene of the collision and spoke with investigators.

The Traffic Division's Collision Investigation Section has assumed the investigation and determined that the male was crossing Main Street against a red light when struck by a southbound vehicle.
