American Patchwork Quartet Performs at NMU Sept. 14

American Patchwork Quartet

The folk-jazz fusion group American Patchwork Quartet, which showcases the dynamic diversity of contemporary culture by reimagining timeless songs from America's past, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Northern Michigan University's Forest Roberts Theatre. The Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at NMU is hosting the concert.

American Patchwork Quartet (APQ) is on a mission to reclaim the immigrant soul of American Roots Music. Led by multi-Grammy Award-winning guitarist/vocalist Clay Ross and composed of three other acclaimed artists, the group binds timeless American folk songs with jazz sophistication, country twang, West African hypnotics and East Asian ornamentation.

APQ's sound is described as "a masterful confluence of tradition and innovation, transcending culture, politics and ideology." To see videos of the group perform, visit their playlist on YouTube.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.tickets.nmu.edu. Advance prices are $20 for the general public and $10 for NMU students and those under 18. Prices at the door are $2 higher.
