On December 13, Davit Karapetyan, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, participated in the Budapest Global Dialogue and delivered remarks at the "Connecting the Dots: Energy, Technology, and Trade" panel discussion.
In his remarks, the Secretary General stated that diverse contemporary threats seriously undermine international peace, sustainable development, and human rights. He emphasized that no country can address these global challenges alone, and effective multilateralism is key to advancing human rights, the rule of law, eradicating poverty, ensuring food security, and promoting social inclusion, gender equality, and youth empowerment.
In his speech, Davit Karapetyan noted: "Driven by the firm belief that regional dialogue is the key to establishing mutually beneficial collaboration, the Government of Armenia has introduced the "Crossroad of Peace" initiative. Guided by the vision of comprehensiveness, inclusiveness, non-discriminatory use of regional infrastructure, and building a prosperous future for all interested parties, this project aims to develop communication between the countries of the region by renovating, building, and operating roads, railways, cables, and electricity lines, with full respect for state sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the principles of equality and reciprocity. The "Crossroads of Peace" project places significant emphasis on building mutual trust as the foundation for peace. By actively engaging with its neighbors and international partners, Armenia seeks to rebuild cooperation in the region and foster understanding among nations."
The Secretary General also underlined the importance of rapid technological progress and the unprecedented opportunities the digital sphere presents in addressing pressing challenges, including economic growth, social equity, and environmental stewardship.
