Fall 2024 Project Updates

Project Updates

Hello Baytown community! Fall has arrived, and with it, exciting updates to our parks and recreation facilities. Baytown Parks & Recreation is committed to enhancing our public spaces for accessibility, safety, and enjoyment. Here's a look at what's happening in our parks this season.

Exciting Upgrades at the Baytown Soccer Complex

Our work at the Baytown Soccer Complex continues, with enhancements underway:

Field Leveling: To improve the safety and quality of play, we're leveling damaged soccer fields, creating a smoother playing surface for all ages.

New Playground & Ninja Obstacle Course: A new playground and a challenging ninja obstacle course for older children are being installed. This ninja course will test strength and agility, making the complex a top destination for family fun and active play.

Restroom Facility Repair: Crews are conducting essential repairs to the restroom facilities, ensuring these areas are functional and clean for visitors.

New Accessible Kayak Launch at Baytown Nature Center

We're thrilled to announce the installation of a new accessible kayak launch at the Baytown Nature Center! This launch provides easy access for everyone to kayak along our beautiful waters for fishing, recreation, or a peaceful paddle in nature. Designed with accessibility in mind, this addition makes it easier for all visitors, including those with mobility challenges, to safely enjoy the water.

New Shade Structure at Central Heights Park Playground

Protecting our little ones from the Texas sun is a top priority. We've added a new shade structure over the playground at Central Heights Park! This shade not only keeps the play area cooler but also helps prevent sunburn, ensuring that kids can play safely throughout the day. It's a welcome upgrade for families and a popular spot for children to explore and have fun in comfort.

Disc Golf Course Coming Soon to Evergreen Park

We're excited to share that plans are underway for a new disc golf course at Evergreen Park! Disc golf is a fun, family-friendly activity that everyone can enjoy, whether you're a beginner or an experienced player. Stay tuned for updates as we move closer to installation.

Ongoing Park Maintenance Projects

Keeping our parks safe and well-maintained is a year-round effort. This fall, we're focusing on essential improvements:

Hurricane Beryl Clean-Up: After the impact of Hurricane Beryl, our Parks Department has been hard at work cleaning up debris, assessing damage, and restoring parks to their original beauty. Their dedicated work has been instrumental in reopening our spaces quickly and safely.

Decomposed Granite Trail at Jenkins Park: A new layer of decomposed granite is being laid along the popular walking and jogging trails at Jenkins Park. This trail enhancement improves stability and accessibility for walkers, runners, and cyclists.

Our parks will continue to improve, with new projects planned to enhance our spaces for the future:

Improvements at Roseland Park: We're excited to add a new playground component at Roseland Park, expanding options for children to play and explore.

Fishing Pier Repairs: Hurricane Beryl left its mark, but we're committed to repairing the fishing piers to restore these beloved spots for anglers and nature lovers.

Holiday Hangout Prep at Town Square: Baytown's Holiday Hangout at Town Square is on the horizon, and preparations are already underway to make it a magical event for the whole family. Look out for festive décor, activities, and events to celebrate the season!

Thank you for supporting Baytown Parks & Recreation as we work to enhance and care for our community parks. We hope these new additions and updates make your visits even more enjoyable.
