Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 6503 Wanda Lane

July 1, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a juvenile male at 6503 Wanda Lane about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (June 30).

The male suspect, 15, has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a manslaughter charge. Juvenile suspect names and booking photos are not releasable.

The identity of the victim, 13, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives C. Sharp and E. May reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found an unresponsive juvenile with a gunshot wound in an upstairs apartment. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

Further investigation and witness statements determined the victim and the suspect, along with other juvenile witnesses, were at the location when the suspect discharged a weapon, The victim was struck by the gunfire.

The Harris County District Attorney's Office was contacted and charges were accepted on the suspect. He was taken into custody without incident.
