Living Our Values Assessment

eBay News Team

At eBay, we are committed to living by our values. Together, we strive to Be for Everyone, creating an inclusive workplace where every member of our team feels valued, respected and empowered. It's in our DNA.

From time-to-time, it's important we review, assess and measure our progress. This includes taking a close look at our workplace practices, policies, culture, and hearing directly from our employees and external stakeholders. Following a recommendation from investors, we determined that conducting an independent third-party assessment was a valuable opportunity to ensure we are acting in a manner consistent with our Human Rights Policy Statement, including the United Nations Principles on Business and Human Rights and the ILO Declaration of Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

Over the next few months, with the help of an independent third party, we'll conduct an assessment to ensure we're staying true to our values in this policy. In particular, this assessment will review our programs and policies, and solicit feedback through multiple methods.

Here's what to expect from the Assessment:

  • Opportunity: We believe eBay is a great place to work, but we know there's always room to improve. Stakeholder feedback is invaluable to us, and this assessment will serve as a structured way to collect it.

  • Anonymity: We want respondents to share their thoughts openly and honestly, so we've retained an independent assessor to collect, compile and analyze feedback. This approach will give us a fresh perspective allowing those who wish to do so to keep their responses private.

  • Transparent Action: We will share an overview of the process and a summary of the changes that we will make as a result of the insights gained through this assessment.

The independent assessor will be setting up initial interviews with stakeholders at all levels to discuss existing policies and practices concerning this policy. If you are interested in providing feedback, you can also contact the assessor, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, at [email protected]. Please note that unlike other surveys and assessments that eBay performs, the assessment will not cover topics related to our employee's working conditions, such as pay or benefits, and the assessor will not provide input concerning those matters.

We are confident this assessment will help continue to make us a stronger and more inclusive company.
