The City of Boulder is thrilled to announce the renewal of its national Service Enterprise accreditation in strategic volunteer engagement, awarded by the Association of Leaders in Volunteer Engagement (AL!VE). This recognition highlights the city's exceptional capability to engage community members and volunteers to meet the community's needs effectively.

The City of Boulder was the second municipal government to receive Service Enterprise certificationand is among the top 11% of organizations in the country in volunteer management and organizational performance.

"We are so proud to be recognized as leaders in volunteer engagement," says Volunteer Cooperative Program Manager Cassy Bohnet. "Volunteers donate their valuable time to our community and this accreditation shows just how much our staff invests in ensuring we provide meaningful and rewarding volunteer experiences. Without the city's 4,000 volunteers, we would not be able to maintain our extensive open space trails, ensure bus stops are shoveled and clear after storms, monitor bat and raptor health, or offer diverse programming for our Older Adults."

The Service Enterprise model equips organizations to amplify volunteer impact through a rigorous diagnostic, training, coaching and accreditation process. Research shows Service Enterprises are not only effective but also adaptable, sustainable and capable of achieving large-scale impact, often at nearly half the median budget of peer organizations.

The reaccreditation is a testament to the hard work and commitment of city staff who support volunteer efforts every day. This achievement speaks volumes about Boulder's dedication to community engagement, enabling volunteers to address the city's most pressing needs in times of both ordinary service and crisis.
