Lanon Baccam Outraises Zach Nunn Once Again in Q2

For the third quarter in a row and every quarter he's been in the race so far, Lanon Baccam - a first time candidate - once again outraised vulnerable freshman Zach Nunn in the second quarter. This comes as new polling shows Lanon and Nunn in a dead heat, despite Nunn having significantly higher name ID.

A combat veteran, former USDA official, and rural Iowa native, Lanon has seen a surge of grassroots support since launching his campaign. After launching nearly halfway through Q4 of 2023, Lanon raised more than Nunn in that quarter, even though he only had half the time to do so. In the first quarter of this year, Lanon brought in more than $900,000 compared to Nunn's $524,000.

While Lanon's lifetime of public service is resonating with Iowans, Zach Nunn's anti-abortion record is top of mind for voters. Nunn voted for an earlier version of the state's dangerous abortion ban that was recently upheld by the Supreme Court, laying the groundwork for Iowa to ban abortion before most women know they're pregnant. Now, he won't stop until he bans abortion nationwide with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the woman's life.

DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
"Lanon's momentum proves that Iowans are ready to send new, effective leadership to Congress and they know Lanon will always put them first. While Lanon has spent his life giving back to his communities, Zach Nunn's anti-abortion record has brought one of the most dangerous abortion bans in the country to Iowa."
