Events DC is a Presenting Partner for DC Bike Ride

DC Bike Ride

Events DC joined the DC Bike Ride team as a presenting partner for the eighth annual 20-mile ride through Washington, DC on September 7 for bicyclists of all ages and ability levels.

Attracting nearly 9,000 riders last year, DC Bike Ride rolls past scenic monuments and features unlimited Instagrammable moments. The ride will continue its iconic views, snack stops, live music and fun along the way, while incorporating some new elements, including more experiential elements throughout the course, and a new start line on historic Constitution Avenue. The ride's Finish Festival is a celebration on Pennsylvania Avenue against the backdrop of the U.S. Capitol Building with a line-up of entertainment, fun activities and food trucks.

Events DC, also a founding partner, continues to support DC Bike Ride because it attracts tourists who contribute an expected $7.9 million of economic impact to the District's businesses, restaurants and hotels. The event is set to welcome participants from over 40 states and several international countries.

"As the official convention and sports authority of Washington, DC, we are thrilled to partner with DC Bike Ride on their eighth annual cycling event," said Events DC President and CEO Angie M. Gates. "Our partnership with DC Bike Ride helps us achieve our mission to showcase Washington, DC as a world-class, family-friendly destination. I am looking forward to an incredible ride on September 7 and experiencing all that our city has to offer from two wheels."

"We are thrilled to be back for year eight of the DC Bike Ride," said Chris Browne, Managing Director of DC Bike Ride. "We're committed to providing riders the chance to experience the city of Washington, DC on two wheels. I'm grateful for the opportunity to share this experience with the local community as well as those coming in from out of town to explore all that DC has to offer. We are thankful for Events DC and our partnership - their support helps us continue in our mission to promote the city's historical and cultural significance."

DC Bike Ride also supports the local community by donating a portion of the event proceeds to various local nonprofits' initiatives. Since its inception, DC Bike Ride has donated nearly $250,000 to organizations such as the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, Wounded Warrior Project and Fruitful Planet. The Ride also offers a scholarship program to ensure participation of riders who cannot afford the ticket fee.

In addition, Co-Presenting Partner CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and DC Bike Ride are hosting the fifth annual Pedal For a Purpose program in support of Dreaming Out Loud's mission to end food insecurity in Washington, DC's marginalized communities. Participating riders have been logging their bike miles since May and the event will culminate at DC Bike Ride on September 7. This year's goal is to reach a collective 200,000 miles to trigger a $25,000 donation to Dreaming Out Loud in 2024.
