Organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, the Forum brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, international organizations, civil society, youth, development practitioners, and private sector representatives.
With the theme "Managing Water Scarcity and Reversing Soil Degradation for Sustainable and Resilient Agrifood Systems," the event was structured into five special events, nine side events, and 15 thematic sessions to encourage a Call to Action for an integrated soil, land, water, and crop management.
The Forum served as a platform to share experiences and solutions addressing the pressing issues on climate change, unsustainable agricultural practices, urbanization, among others. These factors contribute significantly to soil degradation, water scarcity, and impacts on global food security.
The participation of the BSWM, with the active leadership of Director Gina Parde-Nilo, PhD and Assistant Director Denise A. Solano, underscores its commitment towards advancing sustainable agriculture through nature-based solutions, aligned with the international efforts to build and capacitate resilient agrifood systems.
