APPOINTMENT OF NEW HEADS OF DIPLOMATIC MISSION OF MALAYSIA

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia presented the Letters of Credence to seven (7) new Heads of Diplomatic Mission of Malaysia during a ceremony held at Istana Negara today. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dato' Sri Amran bin Mohamed Zin. The newly appointed Heads of Diplomatic Mission are:

Dato' Mohd Tarid bin Sufian

Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Egypt

Dato' Mohd Tarid hails from Selangor and attained his Master's in Strategic and Security Analysis from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He was appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1994. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Undersecretary of East Asia Division from 2022.

He previously served as Ambassador of Malaysia to the United Arab Emirates (2019-2022) and the Ambassador of Malaysia to Algeria (2014-2019). He had also been posted to Malaysian diplomatic missions in Khartoum, Sudan and Manila, the Philippines. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held the position of Deputy Director General at the Department of Policy and Strategic Planning, and had assignments at Europe and Central Asia Division, and Maritime Division.

Datuk Mohd Aini bin Atan

High Commissioner-designate of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam

Datuk Mohd Aini hails from Johor and graduated from the University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. After being appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer, Datuk Mohd Aini joined the Ministry of Defence in 1994, before being posted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. Prior to this appointment, he was the Chief of Protocol from 2023.

Previously, he was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Laos (2017-2023). He also served as the Consul General of Malaysia in Songkhla, Thailand (2008-2012) and was posted to the Embassy of Malaysia in Damascus, Syria. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as Deputy Chief of Protocol and was assigned to the OIC Division, and East Asia and South Asia Divisions.

Ambassador Sarimah binti Akbar

Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Sweden

Ambassador Sarimah was born in Perak and holds a Master's in Public Management from the National University of Singapore. She was appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. Prior to this appointment, she was the Director of Management Services Division at Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) from 2022.

She served as the Ambassador of Malaysia to Timor-Leste (2018-2021) and had been posted to Malaysian diplomatic missions in London, United Kingdom and Tokyo, Japan. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she held the positions of Undersecretary of East Asia Division, Undersecretary of CLMV and Oceania Division, and Deputy Director General at the Department of Communication and Public Diplomacy. She also had assignments at Southeast Asia Division and Finance Division. Under the Public Service Department's Cross-Fertilisation Programme, she served as Undersecretary at the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Ambassador Faizal @ Mohd Faizal bin Razali

Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Qatar

Ambassador Faizal @ Mohd Faizal hails from Johor and graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA. He was appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000. Before this appointment, he was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Algeria from 2021.

In 2015 to 2018, he was posted to the Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok, Thailand as the Deputy Head of Mission and was the Consul General of Malaysia in Songkhla, Thailand (2012-2015). He also served as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat, Oman.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held the positions of Undersecretary of East Asia Division, Undersecretary of Africa Division and Director of Sarawak Regional Office. He was also assigned to the Europe Division, Steering Committee for "The Muslim World and the West: Bridging the Gap" Dialogue, "World Economic Forum on East Asia" and D8 Summit, as well as Finance Division.

Dato' Tengku Sirajuzzaman bin Tengku Mohamed Ariffin

Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the United Arab Emirates

Dato' Tengku Sirajuzzaman was born in Pahang and holds an LLB from University of Wolverhampton, United Kingdom. He was appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1997. Prior to this assignment, he was the Ambassador of Malaysia to Romania from 2021.

He was the Consul General of Malaysia in Hong Kong, China (2014-2019) and had been posted to Malaysian diplomatic missions in Rabat, Morocco and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served as Deputy Director General at ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat, and had assignments at the Parliamentary and Corporate Affairs Division, Administration and Security Division, Southeast Asia and South Pacific Division, and East Europe Division.

Mr. Ahmad Irham bin Ikmal Hisham

Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to Peru

Mr. Ahmad Irham was born in Kuala Lumpur and holds an LLM from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He was appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer and joined the civil service in 2001. Prior to this assignment, he was the Undersecretary of Africa Division since 2023.

He held the position of the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (2017-2021) and had served at the High Commission of Malaysia in Canberra, Australia under the Public Service Department's Cross-Fertilisation Programme.

Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2012, he had served at the Legal Affairs Division, Prime Minister's Department, Parliament of Malaysia, National Institute of Public Administration and Department of Islamic Affairs, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he had served as Deputy Director General at ASEAN-Malaysia National Secretariat, and had assignments at Inspectorate Division, Administration and Security Division, and OIC and D8 Division.

Mr. Mohd Shuhada bin Othman

High Commissioner-designate of Malaysia to Bangladesh

Mr. Mohd Shuhada hails from Terengganu and holds an LLB from International Islamic University of Malaysia. He was appointed as an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer and joined the civil service in 2002. Before this appointment, he was the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 2022.

He held the position of Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Berlin, Germany (2015-2018) and served as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia in Khartoum, Sudan. Prior to joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004, he served at the Public Service Commission and Public Service Department. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he held the positions of Undersecretary of Human Resource Management Division, Undersecretary of Finance Division and Undersecretary of Inspectorate Division. He had also been assigned to OIC and Regional Cooperation Division previously.
