While summer is coming to a close, National Eat Outside Day, on August 31, is an opportunity to relish the warmth and sunshine when you return to campus. We've compiled a list of restaurants near campus that offer outdoor patios and dining areas, so you can catch up with friends, enjoy great food, and soak up summer's last rays this Saturday (or another day soon).

Audubon

In South Campus, just down the street from Kenmore Square, Audubon is a casual dining staple complete with a heated bamboo patio in the back. Start your meal off with a slider or dirty fries-served with cheese, barbecue sauce, chorizo, corn, and more-and a great lineup of drinks for the 21-plus crowd. For dinner, feast on salads, steak, pasta, and burgers, and on weekends, check out a special brunch menu featuring French toast, a breakfast burrito, and tostadas. Whether you're on your way to Fenway or just looking for a great atmosphere, Audubon is the place to go.

Audubon, 838 Beacon St., Boston, is open Monday through Wednesday, 11:30 am to 1 am; Thursday through Saturday, 11:30 am to 2 am; and Sunday, 11:30 am to midnight. View the menu here.

Bar 'Cino

Further down Beacon Street, across from the Saint Mary's Street Green Line stop, Bar 'Cino offers Italian-inspired eats, with a deck out front complete with string lights overhead. With an emphasis on vegetables, fish, and other healthy ingredients, the eatery slings flatbread pizza, grilled sandwiches, pasta, and more. A self-proclaimed "informal neighborhood spot," it's also a stone's throw from campus.

Bar 'Cino, 1032 Beacon St., Brookline, is open Monday through Wednesday, 4 to 9:30 pm; Thursday, 4 to 10 pm; Friday, noon to 10 pm; Saturday, 11:30 am to 10 pm; and Sunday, 11:30 am to 9 pm. View the menu here.

Time Out Market

Can't decide on what kind of food to eat? Time Out Market boasts dining options for all tastes and cravings, from barbecue and seafood to pizza and dumplings. There are two bars, a cold-pressed juicery, and ice cream to finish up the meal. Enjoy a dish in the heart of vibrant Fenway with plenty of outdoor seating.

Time Out Market, 401 Park Drive, Boston, is open Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 10 pm; Friday, 8:30 am to 11 pm; Saturday, 9 am to 11 pm; and Sunday, 9 am to 10 pm. View a list of food vendors here.

Hojoko

Found next to the trendy Verb Hotel in Fenway, Hojoko offers Japanese cuisine, with a lively interior and a poolside patio outside. Billed as a "Japanese rock 'n' roll tavern," the restaurant pairs its ode to Japanese nightlife with a laid-back atmosphere. The restaurant offers sushi rolls, salads, bowls, and small plates like fried chicken and potstickers.

Hojoko, 1271 Boylston St., Boston, serves lunch daily from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm. Dinner service is from 5 to 10 pm Sunday through Thursday, and 5 pm to midnight on Friday and Saturday. View the menu here.

Lulu's Allston

Near West Campus, Lulu's Allston offers American comfort food with a twist. The restaurant boasts plenty of canopied outdoor seating with great decorations and an outdoor bar. Menu highlights include a hummus flight and General Tso's fried calamari to start, and chicken and waffles and pineapple stir-fry as entrées.

Lulu's Allston, 421 Cambridge St., Allston, is open Monday through Thursday, 11:30 am to 10 pm; Friday, 11:30 am to 11 pm; Saturday, 9 am to 11 pm; and Sunday, 9 am to 10 pm. View the menu here.

Piattini

Experience the charm of Italy without leaving Boston at Newbury Street's Piattini. Sit at one of the two "Tuscany-inspired" patios and sample the eponymous piattini ("small dishes" in Italian). Bring friends and feast on tapas-sized plates like bruschetta and tuna tartare, or enjoy a salad, pasta, or pizza. End your meal with a dessert, such as créme brûlée, gelato, or tiramisu.

Piattini, 226 Newbury St., Boston, is open Sunday through Thursday, noon to 9 pm, and Friday and Saturday, noon to 9:30 pm. View the menu here.
