Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores | August 01, 2024 | Press Release

Presidential Elections in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

The governments of Brazil, Colombia and Mexico congratulate and express our solidarity with the Venezuelan people who turned out in large numbers on July 28 to determine their own future.

We are closely following the vote counting process and call on Venezuela's electoral authorities to proceed swiftly and publicly release detailed voting data broken down by polling station.

Any disputes about the electoral process should be resolved through institutional channels. The fundamental principle of popular sovereignty must be respected through impartial verification of the results.

In this context, we urge the political and social actors to exercise the utmost caution and restraint in their public statements and events to avoid an escalation of violent incidents.

Maintaining social peace and protecting human lives should be the top priorities at this time.

We take this opportunity to express again our absolute respect for the sovereign will of the Venezuelan people. We reiterate our willingness to support efforts for dialogue and the pursuit of agreements that benefit the Venezuelan people.
