Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Dr. Thomas J. Galloway Named a Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology

PHILADELPHIA (October 1, 2024) - Thomas J. Galloway, MD, Chief of the Division of Head and Neck Radiation Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was today named a Fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) at its 66th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
"It is an incredible honor to receive this recognition from my professional peers and be welcomed as a fellow of ASTRO," said Galloway, who is also a Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Fox Chase.
Fellowship in ASTRO recognizes the recipient's service to the organization and their outstanding contributions to the field of radiation oncology. Galloway will be joining fewer than 500 Fellows within the specialty worldwide, making him one of five at Fox Chase.
Galloway is certified by the American Board of Radiology and specializes in using multidisciplinary approaches to treat cancers of the head and neck, thyroid cancer, skin cancer, and melanoma. He is also chair of the board's head and neck oral certifying examination committee.
ASTRO's mission is to advance the specialty of radiation oncology by fostering research and innovation and leading policy developments. The organization helps provide medical education and resources, advocates for patients, and advances science and research vital for radiation oncology. Founded in 1958, ASTRO is committed to improving the lives of people with cancer through radiation therapy.
After earning his medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Galloway completed an internship in internal medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He is a member of the Radiological Society of North America and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Throughout his career, Galloway has earned multiple awards and recognitions, including being named to Philadelphia magazine's Top Doctors list and ARRO Educator of the Year at Fox Chase.
