BISMARCK, ND-The Bismarck Fire Department extinguished a fire at a single-family residence on the east side of town on Friday night.
At approximately 10:35 PM on November 1st, 2024, the Bismarck Fire Department received a call for a structure fire at a single-family dwelling in the 3200 block of East C Avenue. Bismarck Fire crews were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 10:41 PM to find a two-story house with smoke coming from the eves, and fire visible through a second-floor window. Firefighters entered the home with charged hose lines through the open garage door. Once inside, they found heavy smoke conditions on the upper level. Fire crews located the fire in the kitchen area involving the stove and cabinets, and quickly put it out. Additional fire crews searched the house and confirmed that everyone was evacuated. Once the fire was out an overhaul was conducted to find and extinguish any smoldering materials.
No injuries were reported to the occupants of the home or firefighters. One family pet perished in the fire.
The fire damage was contained to the room of origin, while there was smoke damage throughout the rest of the house. A fire investigation was conducted, and the cause was determined to be accidental and related to cooking.
