East Boston Drug Control Unit Arrests Two Suspects for Possession of Crack Cocaine

At about 6:15 PM, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District A-7 (East Boston) arrested Danielle Brabent, 40, of Saugus, and Edwin Vasquez, 36, of Chelsea, on drug charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of 178 Border Street to address ongoing community complaints of illegal drug use. Officers observed a male individual looking up and down the street while making multiple short phone calls. A few minutes later, an unknown vehicle approaches and the male suspect enters the rear passenger seat.

Officers were able to follow the vehicle, and observe the male individual exit the vehicle after a short amount of time. Officers believed that a street level drug transaction had occurred. Officers were able to stop the male suspect and recovered crack cocaine from his left pant pocket. Officers advised the suspect that he would be summonsed to court for Possession of Class B.

Officers relayed this information to officers still monitoring the motor vehicle. Officers were able to conduct a traffic stop in the area of 375 Border Street. Officers made contact with the occupants and immediately placed them into handcuffs.

After further investigation, officers recovered eighteen plastic bags of crack cocaine, and $734 in US currency from Vasquez. Officers also recovered three plastic bags of crack cocaine, forty-one various prescription pills, and multiple plastic bags for drug packaging from Brabent and her vehicle.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with Distribution of Class B, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws. Brabent was additionally charged with Possession of Class E. Both suspects are expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.
