The City is asking residents to review and provide input on the draft recommendations to improve the City's active transportation network.
The Department of Public Works' Transportation Planning team last year launched a new citywide effort called the Streets for People Active Transportation Plan.
Staff engaged with residents at over 50 events around the city, collecting thousands of comments and suggestions on improving facilities for walking, biking, and rolling. An interactive map and survey offered additional ways to provide feedback.
Now in the next phase of community engagement, the draft recommendations are available for community review and additional input through the interactive map. The draft recommendations and map are available on the project website.
"The draft recommendations reflect the comments and data we heard this last year to improve the City's active transportation network for people in Sacramento," said Leslie Mancebo, project manager and senior transportation planner with the City. "This next phase is crucial to ensure we heard the community right the first time."
City staff will also be attending and hosting numerous events in neighborhoods across the city for other opportunities where community members can give input on the draft recommended network.

The Streets for People Plan will identify an all ages and abilities network for people walking, biking, and rolling citywide. The Plan will identify two types of active transportation routes:
Together, the networks will identify low-stress connections for Sacramento communities to connect to the places they need to go using active modes of transportation.
