MEDIA ADVISORY - State Reentry Council Collaborative to meet Aug. 13 in Hillsborough

WHAT: Quarterly meeting of the State Reentry Council Collaborative (SRCC). The SRCC was established by the North Carolina General Assembly and Gov. Roy Cooper in 2017 and is managed by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. The SRCC is made up of representatives from across state and local government whose agency responsibilities intersect with the incarceration or reentry process for people in North Carolina. The SRCC also includes stakeholders from various community sectors, including nonprofit organizations, community-based service providers, faith-based organizations, and fair-chance employers and works to facilitate an easier transition back into society for people leaving prison, jail, or any other form of incarceration.

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 13; 9:30 a.m. - noon.

9:30 a.m.: Welcome -- Todd Ishee, Secretary, NC Department of Adult Correction; Maggie Brewer, NCDAC Chief Deputy Secretary of Rehabilitative and Correctional Services.

9:45 a.m.: Reentry 2030 Strategic Plan -- Maggie Brewer, NCDAC Chief Deputy Secretary of Rehabilitative and Correctional Services; George Pettigrew, NCDAC Deputy Secretary of the Division of Rehabilitation and Reentry.

10:15 a.m.: NCDAC Transitional Housing and Programming -- Dr. Glen Warren, Founder of Father's Forever - Transitional Housing Programming & Services.

10:45 a.m.: NCDAC Mental Health Specialty Programming -- Ashlee Barnes and Amber Livengood, Licensed Mental Health Professionals, NCDAC Division of Community Supervision.

11:15 a.m.: Public Comments.

11:30 a.m.: Closing remarks -- Lateisha Thrash, Director of Reentry Services, NCDAC Rehabilitation and Reentry.
