Apartment Fire in Auburn Hills

Apartment Fire in Auburn HillsAuburn Hills, Michigan - Friday, August 30, 2024 - Today at 07:47 Auburn Hills Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the 2600 block of Latern Lane for an apartment fire with reports of a victim trapped. En route, dispatch confirmed one victim was trapped in the apartment. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire in a second story apartment.

Members from Auburn Hills Fire and Police forced the door to the unit on fire and could hear the victim trying to escape. Due to the conditions inside the apartment, the victim was advised to return to his room and open the window. Firefighters quickly rescued the victim from the second story using a ladder. The victim was transported by Auburn Hills Fire Department Paramedics to a nearby hospital.

While Auburn Hills Firefighters extinguished the fire, Auburn Hills PD evacuated residents in the nearby apartments. Auburn Hills Firefighters rescued two pets, a dog and a cat, during the operation. Both pets were returned to their owners in good health.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No firefighters were injured during the fire.
