Gibraltar Cultural Services (GCS), for the Ministry of Culture, is excited to announce it has become an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) as part of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Gibraltar. The aim is to offer cultural and arts-related activities that will allow Award participants to develop their skills in these areas while contributing to GCS through specific projects and activities.
Initially, GCS plans to offer opportunities for Bronze Award participants, with a focus on skill-building activities. Participants will engage in weekly activities, working on projects that set challenging but achievable goals. Over time, GCS intends to expand its offering to include the Silver and Gold Award levels, and potentially offer the Gold Residential Project for international participants, providing a unique opportunity for cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.
Receiving the certification from the Award's Chairman Dale Cruz, GCS CEO Seamus Byrne said:
"I would like to thank the Board of Trustees of the Award in Gibraltar for allowing GCS to become an Approved Activity Provider. Since becoming CEO designate in April 2016, my vision was to ensure we created programmes and offered activities, events, expertise, and resources which would help young people become cultural enthusiasts and hopefully, the cultural leaders of the future.
By participating in these activities, young people will not only be working towards their Award, but also contributing to the cultural landscape of Gibraltar, supporting GCS's mission to promote, encourage and foster artistic and cultural activities both locally and internationally."
