Forces Connect App now available online after major accessibility update

The Forces Connect App, a vital resource for the Armed Forces community, is now even more accessible thanks to its latest upgrade.

This popular, free app, designed to connect users to organisations offering support across a broad range of areas, is now available both as a mobile app and via computer at www.forcesconnect.co.uk.

The web version has been developed in response to feedback from the app's rapidly growing user base and the increasing number of regions represented. This enhancement will make it even easier for members of the Armed Forces community nationwide to quickly find relevant support.

While the app is designed to support our Armed Forces personnel, ex-service personnel, veterans and their families, its features are also beneficial for families and can be accessed nationwide, extending beyond Surrey. Call centres have been among those requesting this development, enabling teams answering the phone to have this resource at their fingertips. Through Armed Forces Awareness Training, frontline workers and contact centre staff are encouraged to ask, "Have you or an immediate family member ever served?" the Forces Connect App allows them to quickly identify potential sources of support.

Ensuring the app is accessible across all platforms has been a key objective of the upgrade. Additionally, the app now includes both national and regional selections for users, reflecting its growing reach. Already widely used in Scotland, there is growing interest from other regions across the UK. This ensures the list of organisations generated by a specific search will be relevant and effective, catering to the diverse needs of users.

Since its launch in 2018, the Forces Connect App has grown steadily, enabled by funding from the MOD Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and current sponsorship from Surrey County Council. It now boasts over 36,500 downloads. These recent changes were made possible through additional support from Surrey County Council, demonstrating its commitment to the Armed Forces community and to ensuring no one is left behind.

Speaking on the announcement, Chair of Surrey County Council Saj Hussain said: "As Chairman of Surrey Civilian-Military Partnership Board, I am more than delighted that our very successful Forces Connect App is to be made available on both laptops and PCs with its own domain name courtesy of the sponsorship by Surrey County Council.

"So many people have asked that it be made available to those caseworkers and contact centre staff who use laptops and PCs in their offices and homes to supplement the initial work they do on their mobile phones. They can now."

This was supported by Colonel Patrick Crowley MBE DL, the Chief Executive at South East Reserves Forces' & Cadets' Association, who added: "On behalf of SERFCA, we are really pleased that the successful Forces Connect App is to be made available on both laptops and PCs with its own domain name, having been funded by Surrey County Council."
