Coming Together for Community Good

In addition to their local cleanup efforts, our Solar Operations team recently partnered with the United Food Bank of Plant City to provide meals for members of our community.

The sun wasn't the only thing shining bright over Davis Island recently as Tampa Electric's Solar Operations team joined forces with Renewables for a meaningful volunteerism initiative. Together, they embarked on a cleanup effort that spanned the beach, boat ramp and a local dog park - leaving a lasting impact on the environment we serve.

The partnership, organized through Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful, saw 22 dedicated Tampa Electric volunteers from our Solar Ops and Renewables departments converge for a two-hour cleanup session. Their efforts resulted in the collection of 26 bags of litter and showcased a commitment to preserving the beauty of Tampa Bay.

Reflecting on the day's accomplishments, Director of Solar Operations David Watler said, "It was a great team building event between Solar Ops and Renewables while cleaning up our beautiful parks, beaches and Tampa Bay."

Administrative Specialist Lead Amanda Zellers expressed her satisfaction with the cleanup, stating, "It felt great participating in the Davis Island Beach cleanup and being able to contribute to keeping our community clean and safe. It was so rewarding helping protect the environment from any harmful trash and debris."

Beyond the environmental impact, their efforts also fostered camaraderie and teamwork. Amanda said, "It's also nice to get out and do something together as a team. Partnering with another department that we work closely with helps in building those relationships and connecting on a more personal level."

Following the cleanup efforts, the volunteers gathered at Margaritas Mexican Restaurant on Davis Island for a well-deserved lunch - further solidifying their bonds through shared experiences and a sense of accomplishment.

This initiative not only embodies our organization's commitment to the environment but also highlights the power of collaboration across different departments. By uniting for a common cause, Solar Ops and Renewables have set an example of corporate citizenship and community involvement.
