Senators Introduce Bill to Enhance Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs

Senators Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Bob Casey(D-PA) introduce the Strengthening Advocacy for Long-Term Care Residents Actto improve advocacy for residents of long-term care. The proposed legislation would require the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to study and issue a report on the recommended ombudsman-to-bed staffing ratio, reinstate a National Director for the Ombudsman program, establish categories of duties for ombudsman volunteers, and assign appropriate training requirements for volunteers based on those categories.
