Bargaining begins with CPKC

Dear Members,

Unifor Local 101R has officially opened negotiations with Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) this week, addressing critical issues that directly affect approximately 1,200 members at 17 workplaces across the country.

Our bargaining team has prioritized the key issues of work ownership and protection, improving working conditions, and resolving poor labour relations. We are focused on securing protections against high levels of contracting out and forced overtime, as well as tackling strict company policies that negatively impact work-life balance.

With over 670 active grievances and ongoing concerns around adherence to arbitration awards, resolving labour relations problems is crucial to building a healthier and more respectful workplace environment for all members.

Negotiations will continue in the coming weeks, and we will keep you informed of any significant developments.

For official updates and further information, please visit unifor.org/cpkcbargaining2024. You can also read the full media release on the opening of bargaining [here].

As always, we encourage members to avoid engaging with rumours or unofficial updates from the employer. Your bargaining committee is committed to providing accurate and timely information throughout the process.

Thank you for your continued support as we work towards securing a fair and equitable contract that reflects the critical contributions of our members.

In solidarity,

Unifor Local 101R Master Bargaining Committee
