At approximately 12:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Atlantic Avenue regarding an injury traffic collision between two vehicles. One of the vehicles had a passenger trapped inside.

Long Beach Fire Department responded and determined the passenger deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2017 Mazda 6 driven by 24-year-old female resident of Los Angeles was traveling westbound on Pacific Coast Highway approaching Atlantic Avenue and a 2007 Toyota Scion driven by a 63-year-old male resident of Long Beach was traveling northbound on Atlantic Avenue.
