Arizona’s Connected Workspace Wins Government Experience Project Award

Arizona's Connected Workspace, a state-of-the-art coworking space open to all State of Arizona employees, has been recognizedwith a 2024 Government Experience Project Award from the Center for Digital Government. Every year, the Center for Digital Government accepts nominations to recognize achievements and learn best practices from states, counties, cities and special districts across the United States.

Arizona's Connected Workspace was opened in September 2022. By consolidating work spaces and reducing the state government office space, Arizona has saved taxpayers more than $9 million in rental costs since 2020, and the state's footprint has been reduced by nearly 1 million square feet.

The workspace is designed for the modern workforce with a variety of conference rooms, individual work cubicles, collaborative huddle spaces, a large training room and convenient parking. Amenities include video conferencing, high-speed wireless and wired internet, interactive whiteboards, a printer/copier and personal item lockers.

"As workplace culture has transitioned since the pandemic, State of Arizona employees have embraced Arizona's Connected Workspace as an alternative to working from home with all of the amenities of a modern-day office," said AZWorkspace Administrator Shelley Witt. "In June of 2022, we saw 200 reservations and most recently we have scaled to reach over 1,300 reservations in one month. It is really special that the State of Arizona has invested in this state-of-the-art coworking facility for every employee to enjoy, and I am proud to be a part of it."

To reserve a space, state employees use a convenient seat booking application software through Tango Reserve by Agilquest. There are also assigned individuals at the concierge desk who can assist state employees with procuring office supplies and equipment.
